James McClean has returned to Wigan Athletic after the Ireland winger signed a one-year contract with the club.

The Derry man had been expected to leave Stoke City and in the end he departed the club with a mutual agreement, dropping from the Championship down to League One where he will return to the DW Stadium.

McClean previously played for Wigan between 2013 and 2015 and won player of the year at the club in 2014/15.

It is hoped he will be available for Saturday’s trip to face Charlton.

Meanwhile, in League One, Troy Parrott was on the scoresheet again for MK Dons on Tuesday, netting the equaliser and setting up the winner in their victory over Charlton.

It’s the second game in a row in which Parrott has scored for his new loan club as he hopes to get more first team football under his belt in the hope of eventually breaking into the Tottenham team.

After going behind to Charlton, MK Dons fought back with Parrott bagging the equaliser before he set up Mo Eisa for the winner.
