Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger looks set to turn down Manchester United's advances and remain at Bayern Munich.

The German World Cup winning midfielder had been heavily linked with last year's Premier League fourth placed side, as the Manchester club look to add "star quality" to their squad for the upcoming season.

Schweinsteiger was believed to be one of those at the top of Louis van Gaal's list of summer targets, along with Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos.

Last season he made 28 appearances for Bayern, scoring five goals, although his campaign was interrupted by injury.
