The Paris St Germain and Brazil defender David Luiz was the surprise inclusion on Fifa's 2014 Team of the Year announced at Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony.

The former Chelsea centre-half, who left the Premier League leaders last summer in a £50m deal, was part of the Brazil side that lost 7-1 to Germany in last year's World Cup semi-final.

Neither Gareth Bale nor his Real Madrid team-mate James Rodríguez made the list, while Manchester United's record signing Angel Di María the only player in the XI currently playing in England.
