Neil Farrugia will leave Shamrock Rovers at the end of his contract having signed a new deal with League One club Barnsley.
The 25-year-old winger has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the English side who currently sit sixth in League One.
Farrugia joined Shamrock Rovers in 2019, scoring 11 goals in over 120 appearances for the Hoops.
His last outing for Stephen Bradley’s side came in their 5-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on December 19th.
“This is a big club full of ambitions and I’m really looking forward to it,” Farrugia said of the move.
“I’ve come over to England for that new challenge, to take that next step and I’m going to embrace it.”
In a statement released on Friday, Barnsley’s sporting director, Mladen Sormaz, said: “Neil had a good number of options in both the last transfer window and this one but he sees an opportunity to progress here at Oakwell and we are really pleased to secure his services.”
Sormaz added: “He has also played in some big games this season which is also really important, Shamrock (Rovers) have been impressive in their European campaign this season and hopefully, Neil can bring that experience to Oakwell as we head into the business end of the campaign.”
