St Patrick’s Athletic have learned their European fate after drawing the winner of Moldova’s Sfintul Gheorghe versus Slovenian club Mura in the second round of the European Conference League.
St Pat’s have a bye through the first qualifying round.
The draw comes after a separate draw on Monday outlined the first round of the European pathway for the rest of the Irish clubs involved in Europe this season. Airtricity League leaders Shamrock Rovers, who face a Champions League qualifying tie against Hibernians of Malta, have today learned that the winner of Ludogorets versus Montenegro’s Sutjeska will lie in wait for them, should they progress.
If Derry City beat get past Riga FC, also in the Conference League, they will entertain either Slovakian side Ružomberok or Kauno Žalgiris of Lithuania. Sligo Rovers, the only other Irish side involved in Europe, could well face a daunting opponent in Motherwell if they beat Bala Town of Wales in their first qualifying round.
