Pembroke Wanderers will expect to stretch their lead at the top of the EY Hockey League table to seven points on Saturday when they host bottom club Cork Harlequins at Serpentine Avenue in one of just two top flight games being played this weekend.

It’s been torrid season so far for Harlequins who have taken just one point from their eight games so far, scoring just three goals. And coming up against the tightest defence in the league, Pembroke shipping just five goals in their nine games, that struggle is likely to continue.

It’s been a tough campaign too for Muckross who have also picked up just one point so far, but there’s not much between them and their opponents on Saturday, Belfast Harlequins, who are just two points above them. Harlequins have home advantage, though, and will look to put it to good use in the hope of ending a six-game losing streak.

Hockey League - Division One: Belfast Harlequins v Muckross, Deramore Park, 2.30; Pembroke Wanderers v Cork Harlequins, Serpentine Avenue, 2.30.
