Ireland all-rounder Kevin O’Brien has signed a three-match deal to play for Surrey in their Friends Life Twenty20 campaign.
The 29-year-old will replace Australian Glenn Maxwell, who was called up by Australia 'A' for their tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The Railway Union player arrived in London yesterday morning and netted with his new team-mates, including fellow Ireland international Gary Wilson, who yesterday signed a two-year extension to his deal at The Oval that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2015 season.
O’Brien and Wilson are named in a 13-man squad for tonight’s game against Hampshire at The Oval, a squad that also includes Australian Ricky Ponting. Surrey are presently fourth in the South Division table.
