Neil Fleming howled with delight as he paddled across the line with partner Robin Koenders to win the Liffey Descent on Saturday.

The Irishman and the Dutchman guided their K2 to a win in a fast time of 1:48;32. They had fought their way clear of nearest challengers Gary Mawer and Barry Watkins through the early part of the race and led by two minutes by halfway.

The fastest individual competitor was Tom Brennan, competing for the first time in a senior K1. Jenny Egan, with boyfriend Jon Simmons, had a win and a record time in the mixed K2.
