Wexford determined to take advantage of second chance

Model County women targeting victory over Cork and another All-Ireland final place

Una Leacy's last-minute goal was Wexford's saving grace last week and has afforded Helena Jacob's side another chance of reaching the All-Ireland final on September 14th.

Cork were the better of the two sides in Thurles last weekend with Angela Walsh causing problems for the Wexford defence while Orla Cotter and Katriona Mackey were the chief scorers in a tight competitive affair.

Paudie Murray has named a side that is particularly strong down the centre with Anna Geary at full back, Gemma O'Connor at centre back, Rena Buckley and Aisling Thompson at midfield and Orla Cotter at full-forward.

Wexford will rue the amount of missed opportunities in the first game, and will be relying on Kate Kelly, Katrina Parrock at full forward and Ursula Jacob to capitalise.

Josie Dwyer and Shelley Kehoe are named at midfield and much will depend also on the performance of Mary Leacy at centre back and Fiona Kavanagh at centre forward.

The advantage may be with Wexford for Saturday’s replay, having snatched a draw at the last second last time out.
