Clare 0-19 Limerick 0-17
It took extra time in Cusack Park Ennis for Clare to finally overcome neighbours Limerick in the semi-final of the Munster MHC.
A tight and entertaining contest was witnessed by a crowd of 3, 697 and in the end a pair of points by Banner full-forward Gary Cooney proved the difference.
At half-time in normal time the teams were locked at seven points apiece with Limerick’s Paul O’Brien and Clare’s Tiernan Agnew to the fore. At the end of normal time, Limerick came from three points down to tie the game at 0-14 each, with O’Brien providing the leveller.
The Shannonsiders grabbed the first score of extra-time through David Woulfe but when the whistle sounded half-way in, they were still level, this time at sixteen apiece.
Limerick began the last period with another O’Brien score but Clare’s Agnew levelled moments later and Cooney then weaved his magic to seal victory.
