Waterford 1-13
Clare 1-11
Reigning All-Ireland minor champions Waterford had to rely on a late scoring surge at Cusack Park, Ennis, to progress to the Munster semi-final. Playing second fiddle for much of the game, a return of 1-5 to no score in the last seven minutes was enough for the visitors to claim victory.
Substitute Eddie Meaney struck a goal and a point in that period. Clare had 13 wides, seven in the first half .
Clare lead by 0-7 to 0-5 at the break and led until the 55th minute when Darragh Lyons levelled the game at 0-11 apiece, with a sweetly struck point.
A Peter Hogan effort gave Waterford the lead and when Meaney kicked to the Clare net after a goalmouth scramble, the game was up.
