Former Kildare boss joins backroom team at his native county

Former Kildare boss Kieran McGeeney will form part of the new management team at his native Armagh under Paul Grimley.

Armagh made the announcement on their official website on Tuesday evening, with McGeeney being joined by former Armagh senior manager Peter McConnell and Martin McQuillan. Julie Davis has been named strength and conditioning coach and James Doyle will be speed coach.

McGeeney, who captained Armagh when the won the All-Ireland in 2002, was ousted from the Kildare job after six years, despite the backing of his players.

Grimley worked as part of the Kildare management team under McGeeney during his early years with the Lilywhites.
