Poor game but Kerry did enough and raised the intensity in the second half and Derry couldn’t handle it. A timid way to go out for Mickey Harte’s team in a pedestrian affair.

Then finally a bit of bite between McKaigue and Clifford over a one-on-one duel that gets the crowd going and then Cassidy counters and scores to put the scores level once more.

Bad game, shocking lack of intensity before there’s a bit of pushing and shoving heading back into the dressingroom. Hopefully that might lead to a more passionate second half. Only 12 points in the half, six of them came in the first 13 minutes, McGuigan and Clifford starring. The next 24 minutes were small moments of quality interspersed with errors and nothing happening. Badly indicative of Kerry that David Clifford couldn’t get the ball. All to play for in the second half at least, where as Ger Canning said on commentary, hopefully a game will break out.
33 mins: David Clifford finally gets the ball after being out of the game for about 20 minutes, but misses on his left from a distance. Derry punish by going up the pitch, with McGuigan scoring well on his left under pressure.

32 mins: Not a great game here to say the least, bit disappointing and lacking the pace of the previous match. Cagey would be the word. Moments of intensity followed by minutes of slow possession at a time. Muted atmosphere too and plenty of errors.

29 mins: Veteran Paul Geaney scores a point to put Kerry back ahead and then Lynch hits a kickout out of play as Kerry up the pace. But McKinless dispossesses O’Shea with a great tackle and stops the Kerry momentum.

26 mins: Finally a point, the first one in about eight minutes, a fisted point by Kerry before Rogers returns the favour with a nicely taken point. That’s more like it after a pedestrian 10 minutes or so.

A minute’s silence now for Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, the Kerryman who passed away this week.
Full-time: Donegal 1-23 Louth 0-18. So that’s Donegal, Armagh and Galway in the semi-finals. Just one space left to fill and that game is coming up in 20 minutes.
A comprehensive victory for Donegal it looks like Donegal 1-21 Louth 0-16.
Eoghan Ban Gallagher scores a goal for Donegal and that could be the key score of the game. It’s Donegal 1-19 Louth 0-15.
So it’s Donegal 0-17 Louth 0-11 as the Ulster county maintain their lead after 50 minutes. Gallen scored a fine point to keep the advantage, he’s had a good game and Ciaran Thompson puts them one more ahead.

“I have no doubt Kerry have been timing their run and we’ll see them start to pick up the pace now. It’s not as if this is a scenario they haven’t previously experienced. Indeed, not only do I expect a big performance from Kerry, but I reckon they will beat Derry pretty convincingly.”

Peader Mogan fists over the bar to make put Donegal two points up in stoppage time at the end of the first half. A few minutes later Gallen scores a nice point off his left. That’s Donegal 0-11 Louth 0-8 at half-time then. Good game there.

After Dublin’s defeat to Galway last night, the Sam Maguire Cup is wide open and the winner of this clash will seriously fancy their chances. Kerry are favourites and any team with a player the quality of David Clifford will be difficult to beat, but Derry are the league champions and after a tough start to the championship, have rebounded and showed form by beating Mayo in the previous round on penalties.
