Sinn Féin’s Natasha Newsome Drennan has retained the Sinn Féin seat in Carlow Kilkenny held by Kathleen Funchion, elected as an MEP at the June’s European elections.

A native of Knocktopher, Co Kilkenny, Newsome Drennan now lives in Mullinavat, with her husband John and their four sons. The family run a suckler farm.

A newcomer to politics, Newsome Drennan (48) contested last June’s local elections for Sinn Féin in the Piltown Local Electoral Area but missed out on a council seat on that occasion.

Within weeks however Newsome Drennan secured her place on the Sinn Féin ticket alongside Carlow-based candidate Áine Gladney Knox for the 2024 General Election and continued to campaign.

Natasha works as an assistant in the disability sector.
