Sir, – Spare a thought for the minority who are burdened with the problem of what to do with a troublesome amount of money. In the olden days, one could stuff an amount behind the bath or under the mattress, but nowadays such hidey-holes are not big enough to take the quantities we’re talking about. As for putting it in the bank, we know how banks can collapse; and anyway, the interest they offer is ludicrous.
Even if the hard-pressed brethren were to stump up some morally due income tax, they would still have the challenge of what to do with the remaining shed-loads.
The answer lies in the past – do what the pirates did and bury the loot in one of the many paradise islands around the globe. – Yours, etc,
TED O’KEEFFE,
