Sir, – I would like to add to the correspondence regarding ferry signs that baffle tourists. There is a well-weathered sign for the East Link Toll-Bridge beside Slattery’s pub in Beggars Bush with an airplane symbol and references to “B&I Line” and “SeaCat” ferries. It gives me a pang of nostalgia whenever I see it, although I’m not sure what type of pangs it gives tourists trying to find Dublin Port. – Yours, etc,
LOUIS McCARTHY,

Sir, – I recently came through the ferry port in Ringaskiddy. On leaving the port, all the road signs for the first five kilometres directed traffic to Cork, and only Cork. Now I realise that Cork is an independent republic and the centre of the known universe but it does have a few land borders. – Yours, etc,
TIM SWEETMAN,
Islandbridge,
