Traffic will be disrupted this weekend on the N11, the main Dublin-Wexford route, because of the closure of a section of the road near Bray to allow for construction works.

The N11 between Wilford Road junction and Killarney Road junction will be closed from 8pm this Saturday until 2pm on Sunday to facilitate construction of the Enniskerry Road footbridge at Kilcroney.

Motorists are being advised by Wicklow County Council and the National Roads Authority to avoid the area unless their journeys are absolutely necessary.

Diversions will be put in place for motorists who need to use the route. Northbound and southbound traffic will be diverted through Bray via Killarney Road, Main Street, Castle Street, Dublin Road and Wilford Road. The route will be a clearway for the duration of the closure.

Northbound and southbound traffic heading into Enniskerry will be diverted via Knocksink Road, Monastery Road, Ballyman Road, Thornhill Road and the Old Bray Road.

Motorists travelling to Fassaroe will be directed along Castle Street, Main Street, Upper Dargle Road and on to the Fassaroe interchange. Gardaí will be at junctions during the road closure and signposts will be erected to assist motorists taking the diverted routes.

The N11 has involved major construction works in this area over the last 10 years with special flyovers being built to provide access to the Roundwood/Glendalough road.
