Sixty-nine homes were repossessed in Dublin city last year, figures seen by The Irish Times show. These represent fewer than half of the 160 repossession orders granted in the Dublin Circuit Court last year, although it is likely many of the orders executed in 2015 had been made in previous years.

The figures are from the Dublin City Sheriff and do not include those from the Dublin County Sheriff, which would also be tasked with executing orders made in the court.

The Dublin city figures show 127 repossession execution orders were received between January 2nd-December 18th, 2015. While 69 of these were executed, 33 were “settled prior to repossession”, eight were withdrawn and 17 were “pending” at the end of the year.

Of the 69 houses or apartments repossessed, 28 were by banks, 18 were by Dublin City Council, 16 were by building societies and seven were private repossessions.
