A colloquium on the theme of Ethics in Crisis takes place at Castlecoote House, near Roscommon town, on Wednesday.

Speakers at the colloquium will include Fr Peter McVerry, who will speak on Ethics and the Transformation of Society, and Dr John Scally of Trinity College Dublin, who will discuss Ethics in Crisis.

A third speaker is aid worker Sharon Commins, who will speak on the subject of Ethics in a Troubled World.

This inaugural colloquium – there are plans for it to become an annual event – is a response to the sense of confusion that exists about many of the most important ethical issues and controversies of the times, the organisers say.
