A man has died after the car he was driving collided with another vehicle on the Skerries Road in Rush on Wednesday night.

The 35-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle hit another car near the intersection with St Catherine’s Estate on the Skerries Road at about 11.30pm.

The man was the sole occupant of the car. His body was removed to the mortuary at James Connolly Memorial Hospital.

The three occupants in the second car - a 24-year-old woman and two men aged 45 and 28 - were injured in the crash and taken to Beaumont and James Connolly Memorial hospitals. Their conditions are described as serious but not life threatening.

Gardaí in Lusk are investigating the incident and the road is closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination with diversions in place.
