Bob Jordan, former chief executive of the housing charity Threshold, has been appointed as chief executive of the Housing Agency.
The agency is a Government body working with the Department of Housing, local authorities and approved housing bodies on the delivery of housing.
Mr Jordan, who will take up the position of chief executive next week, was since 2018 national director of the Housing First programme, which targets people who have been sleeping rough with housing and wrap-around supports. From 2016 to 2017 he was special adviser to then minister for housing Simon Coveney and for the decade prior to that was chief executive at Threshold.
Commenting on his appointment of Mr Jordan, Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien said: "Having someone of Bob's calibre and experience leading the Housing Agency during this critical time will be of great benefit."

He thanked outgoing chief executive John O’Connor, adding: “I am glad he has accepted the position of chair of the soon to be established Commission on Housing.”
The Peter McVerry Trust welcomed Mr Jordan’s appointment, saying: “We believe Bob will be able to strengthen efforts to secure housing for the most vulnerable as well as delivering on the wider and incredibly important mandate of the Housing Agency.”
