The Irish Times is looking to speak with third-level students who rent accommodation or are seeking somewhere to rent for the upcoming academic year. This week, with many third-level students having already begun the search for a place to stay, a warning was issued to help prospective renters avoid falling victim to scams and fraud. Banks, the Garda and the Union of Students of Ireland advised students and parents to be on the alert, following cases where victims were conned into paying deposits for properties that do not exist, or were already rented. More generally, the experience of finding affordable rental accommodation can be difficult, particularly considering severe shortages in supply.
Are you looking for rental accommodation? If so, how are you finding the experience? Or, are you now renting and have a story you’d like to share? We would like to hear about your experience with the student rental market – good or bad.
Some of the responses may be published as part of our reporting.
Thank you.
