Outgoing Lord Mayor of Cork treated in hospital after road crash

Catherine Clancy was been driven home when the accident happened in Pearse st

Labour Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Catherine Clancy is recovering following a car accident in the early hours of this morning.

Cllr Clancy, who was been driven home in the mayoral car, was in an accident on Pearse Road in Ballyphehane, on the city’s southside, about 4am.

She was coming from the election count in City Hall, following the news she had lost her seat.

Cllr Clancy and her driver were taken to Cork University Hospital for observation before being discharged.
