Offaly Council: Recount under way of the Tullamore electoral area

Recount requested by independent candidate Sean O’Brien after he lost out by four votes

Counting has resumed in Offaly where a full recount of the Tullamore electoral area got underway at 10am.

The recount was requested by independent candidate Sean O’Brien, who had missed out on the final seat to Danny Owens(FF) by just four votes in the twelfth count.

Nine of the nineteen seats have now been filled at Offaly County Council.

Sinn Féin and Independents have secured three seats each while Fianna Fáil has taken two and Fine Gael has one seat.

In Edenderry, three of the six seats have been taken by Martin O’Reilly Sinn Féin, Eddie Fitzpatrick Fianna Fáil and John Foley Independent.
