Gary Gannon (32) graduated from Trinity College in 2012 with an honours degree in history and political science.
He was elected in 2014 to Dublin City Council to represent the North Inner City.
He ran in both the 2016 general election and was the party’s candidate in the European elections last year.
Although he was unsuccessful in both, he polled strongly in the EU elections, taking almost 30,000 first-preference votes, and lost out only narrowly in that general election.
Gannon describes himself as an activist, organiser and advocate for diverse communities throughout Dublin.
He is the party’s spokesman on education equality and access.
Prior to this he worked as a career-guidance advocate for early school leavers and also briefly trained to be a plumber.
He has said he wants to see increased investment in the early-years sector.
