Election 2016: TV and radio coverage of the results

RTÉ will broadcast live from count centres across country with TV3 and UTV giving analysis

Election 2016 is set to dominate television and radio over the course of the weekend, and avid count followers are left with no shortage of options when it comes to following the latest developments in constituencies across the country.

On television, RTÉ One more or less dedicates the whole of Saturday to election coverage with live count centre information, discussion and analysis on Election 2016.

Hosted by Bryan Dobson, Miriam O’Callaghan and David McCullagh, it starts at 10am on Saturday and runs until 3am Sunday with breaks for news broadcasts. The programme resumes at 11am Sunday when the overall picture will be somewhat clearer and runs until 3.10pm.

RTÉ do not monopolise the TV count coverage and UTV Ireland will also have half-hour long election broadcasts at 5.30pm, 8.30pm and 11pm on Saturday.

Elsewhere, TV3's Vote 2016 with Ivan Yates begins at 7pm on Sunday, and the political pundit will be joined by Colette Fitzpatrick for discussion of the results and government formation options alongside a panel of experts and politicians.

On radio, RTÉ Radio One also devotes an entire day to election coverage on Saturday starting with a special edition of Morning Ireland between 8am and 10am followed by the Election 2016 programme right through to 2am Sunday.

There is another hour-long Morning Ireland special on Sunday at 8am which is again followed by Election 2016 coverage until 1pm.

RTÉ Radió na Gaeltachta's Lá an Chomhairimh begins at 10am on Saturday through to 1am Sunday, and recommences at 9am on Sunday before finishing at 9pm.

Newstalk will carry election programming from 7am Saturday through to 1am Sunday with presenters such as Pat Kenny, Chris Donoghue andYates.

Its Election 2016 series resumes at 9am until 2pm on Sunday when it will be hosted by Fitzpatrick, George Hook and Sarah Carey.

The Irish Times will be offering extensive coverage online also with a liveblog, news and analysis as the results come in.
