The kiss Senator Katherine Zappone shared with her partner Ann-Louise Gilligan after proposing live on television the day of the same-sex marriage referendum features in Google's 2015 A Year in Search video.

As the video flicks through the top Google searches of the past 12 months around the world, the voice of Caitlyn Jenner can be heard speaking at the ESPY awards where Jenner accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in July.

“For the people out there wondering what this is all about,” says Jenner. “Whether it’s about courage or controversy... well I’ll tell you what it’s all about. It’s about what happens from here.

“It’s not just about one person. It’s about thousands of people. It’s about all of us accepting one another.

“We’re all different. That’s not a bad thing. That’s a good thing. And while it may not be easy to get past the things you don’t always understand, it is absolutely possible if we only do it together.”

Caitlyn Jenner was the third most searched person in the world on Google in 2015.

'When is the Late Late Toy Show' was one of the most asked questions on Google, according to the site's list of most explored topics in Ireland. The question was fourth in the list after 'when is Easter', 'when is Pancake Tuesday' and 'when is Halloween'?

The Google A Year in Search site, which was created by Google News Lab, also features the most explored news items, people, politicians, music acts, sports events and TV shows.

‘What is Isis’ was the most asked question on Google in Ireland followed by ‘what is je suis Charlie’, ‘what is lupus’ and ‘what is processed meat’.

The Rugby World Cup was the top searched item on Google Ireland in 2015 while Karen Buckley, the Cork student who was murdered in Glasgow in April, was the second most-searched item.

Conor McGregor, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion, was the third most searched item on Google Ireland.

Internationally, the most searched global news event was Charlie Hebdo followed by Paris, Hurricane Patricia, Isis and Nepal. Jurassic World was the most Googled movie in the world and Big Brother Brazil was the top TV show.
