Two people were taken to hospital this afternoon after a collision between a car and a Luas tram in Dublin city centre.

The crash happened on the outbound Luas red line at about 2.20pm, between the Four Courts and Smithfield.

A spokeswoman for Luas said the tram driver and the motorist were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Luas services on the line, which runs from the city centre to Tallaght, were curtailed for about 1 hour 30 minutes. Dublin Bus accepted valid Luas tickets before normal services resumed.
