The two men arrested in relation to a seizure of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €2 million have been charged. Both men are due to appear before a special sitting of Drogheda District Court, at 11.00am on Sunday.
Revenue officers and gardaí seized the 100 kgs of herbal cannabis in a targeted operation in Drogheda, Co Louth on Friday.
The seizure was part of ongoing investigations targeting suspects involved in an organised crime group operating in the Louth area.
The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Drogheda Divisional Drugs Unit conducted the joint operation with Revenue personnel.
Two men, aged in their 60s and 40s, were arrested at the scene. They were taken to Drogheda Garda station where they were detained on Friday under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
