Teenage biker and pedestrian believed to be in his 70s die following road collisions

Two people have died following separate road traffic incidents in Dublin and Roscommon.

A teenager died following a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Dublin on Thursday.

The collision occurred at the junction of Killbarron Park and Cromcastle Road in Coolock at about 1.20pm.

The male driver of the motorcycle was taken to Beaumont Hospital and was later pronounced dead, according to gardaí.

The female driver of the car was taken to Beaumont with minor injuries.

Forensic examination

A Garda forensic examination was carried out at the scene and diversions were put in place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Santry Garda station (01 666 4000), the Garda confidential line (1800 666 111) or any Garda station.

Gardaí are also investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the N5 at Frenchpark, Co Roscommon at 5.15pm on Thursday.

A pedestrian believed to be in his 70s was fatally injured when he was hit by a car. The driver of the car, a man, was not injured.

The N5 was closed between Frenchpark and Ballaghaderreen pending the arrival of Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions were put in place.
