A woman has died following a collision involving a car and a moped in Co Meath.

The incident occurred at Kilberry in Navan at about 9.30pm last night.

The woman, who was travelling on the moped, sustained fatal injuries in the incident. Her body was removed from the scene to Navan General Hospital where a full post mortem is to take place.

The driver of the car was unhurt.

The road has reopened after an examination by a forensic investigation by gardai.

Separately, a man has been arrested in Co Down following a fatal single vehicle crash.

A 32-year-old male passenger died following the incident on the Carryduff Road this morning. No other vehicles were involved.

The road between Temple Cross and Bresagh Road is likely to remain closed for some time.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested.
