Three men, including a security guard, were taken to hospital last night following a stabbing incident on the Luas.

The security guard intervened during an altercation in which three men became involved in a row on a Green line train near Milltown.

Two of the three men involved in the row and the security guard who intervened, were stabbed. The security guard was attached to the Special Task Team which monitors security on the Luas.

Gardaí, who were quickly on the scene, arrested two men. None of the three men who were stabbed have life-threatening injuries.

They were taken to St Vincent’s hospital for treatment and were retained overnight.

The Luas stop was closed for a time for a forensic examination.
