A man in his 40s was killed at the weekend in a paragliding accident in Co Meath.

The man died when his engine-powered glider crash-landed at Ben Head near Gormanston.

He was near Gormanston army camp when he came down at 6pm on Saturday.

Drogheda Coast Guard, the local fire service, ambulance service and members of the public were quickly on the scene, but the man died a short time afterwards.

The accident is being investigated by the Department of Transport's Air Accident Investigation Unit.
