Northside Dart services have returned to normal, Irish Rail has said, after a fault on a maintenance train resulted in major disruption on Monday morning.

The train, which was carrying maintenance supplies, experienced a mechanical fault at Kilbarrack, leaving it stranded with only one line in operation.

As a result, services from Malahide and Howth and the city centre were extremely limited in the mid-morning period.

Irish Rail said services returned to normal at 12. 30 pm.
