A motorcyclist has died following a crash involving a van in Co Cork on Friday morning.
The man, aged in his 30s, is understood to be from the Mitchelstown area. He was fatally injured when his motorcycle collided with a van near Rathcormac between Fermoy and Cork city.
The crash happened at about 7.45am at an area known locally as Dr Barry’s Bridge on the old Cork-Fermoy road.
Emergency services attended to the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is understood the driver of the van was physically uninjured but was badly shaken by the crash. He was treated for shock at the scene by paramedics and medical personnel.
Gardaí have closed off the road to allow forensic crash investigators carry out an examination and it is expected the road will remain closed until well into Friday afternoon.

Friday’s crash is the second fatal road incident on Cork’s roads this week, following the death of a pedestrian who was killed when he was struck by a lorry on Coburg St in Cork city on Monday.
The man, who was in his 40s and orginally from Togher in the city, was hit by a lorry at the junction of Coburg St and Bridge St near the bottom of St Patrick's Hill just before 11am on Monday.
