Motorcyclist dies after three-vehicle crash in Letterkenny

Gardaí seeking witnesses as road closed from Dry Arch to Port Road roundabouts

One man has died and a second remains in hospital after a three-vehicle crash in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

Gardaí from Letterkenny have appealed for witnesses to the crash which occurred on the N14 between Dry Arch roundabout and the Port Road roundabout on Sunday evening, just before 5pm.

A motorcyclist (40s), was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with an SUV and a tractor, while driving in traffic.

The man, who has not been named, was taken to University Hospital Letterkenny in a critical condition, where he later died.

The second man, who was driving the SUV was uninjured and the driver of the tractor was taken to hospital to receive medical attention. The tractor driver’s injuries are non-life threatening, according to the Garda.

The scene is currently preserved and Garda forensic collision investigators are conducting an examination.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling on the N14 on Sunday evening between the Dry Arch and Port Road roundabouts and who may have camera footage, including dash-camera footage, is asked to make it available to gardaí.
