A monument dedicated to the memory of two fire fighters who died in the line of duty in in 2007 is to be unveiled at a ceremony in Bray at the end of the month.

Members of the fire service from all over the country contributed to the cost of the project which was undertaken in memory of Mark O'Shaughnessy (25) and Brian Murray (46), who were killed as they battled a fire at a disused glazing and furniture factory at Adelaide Villas, Bray, in September 2007.

The two men became trapped inside the smoke-filled factory after its ceiling collapsed in the fire.

Designed by artist Ciarán Patterson the monument will be unveiled by the deceased firefighter’s families on Saturday 28th September 2013 at 1.30pm.

The public has been invited to attend the event which will begin with a memorial Mass at midday at the Holy Redeemer Church, Main St, Bray.

A ceremony will take place following Mass at the entrance to Father Colohan Terrace during which the monument will be unveiled.
