A postmortem is being carried out on the body of a man who washed up on the Aran Islands on Friday.

The man, who gardaí say is aged between 40-60 years old was found on Inis Meáin by a member of the public at around 8.30pm on Friday evening.

His remains were taken to University College Hospital Galway for a postmortem and gardaí say it may be a number of weeks before he is identified.

A search is still being carried out for a man who fell into the sea in Doonbeg in Co Clare two weeks ago, gardaí say.
