Man dies in single vehicle crash in Co Offaly

A man has died following a a single vehicle crash in Co Offaly on Sunday night.

The man who was in his late 30s was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the N52, Tullamore to Nenagh Road road at Derrydonnelly, Kilcormac and hit a tree at about 11.15pm.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore where a post mortem is to be carried out.

A section of the N52 at Derrydonnelly is currently closed to facilitate Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions are in place.
