A 67-year-old man has died following a house fire in Dublin.
Four fire engines and an ambulance responded to the report of a fire at Lissadell Drive in Drimnagh at about 9pm on Thursday.
The man was removed by firemen from the property and brought to St James’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. It is understood he died of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known, although it is not thought to have been a major fire. The house is in a terrace, but no other property is believed to have been damaged. Nobody else was in the house at the time.
Emergency services had reached the home in less than five minutes.
A fire officer took control of the scene and gardaí cordoned it off for technical examination, but there is no indication at this stage of anything suspicious.
