An eight-year-old girl has been killed in a farming incident in Co Mayo.

The tractor-related incident took place at Islandeady, near Castlebar, on Tuesday evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 4pm.

The child was taken to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, but could not be saved.
