Gardaí appeal for witnesses after cyclist hit by car

Man (26) sustains leg injuries following collision with car which sped off

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a serious hit and run incident in Baldoyle, Co Dublin a week ago.

A 26-year-old cyclist was knocked off his bicycle by a man driving a black Volvo car at 12.45am on the morning of July 9th, 2016. The incident occurred at Strand Road, Baldoyle.

The cyclist was returning home from work. He was knocked to the ground and has serious leg injuries.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he continues to be treated for his injuries.

The Volvo S40 model, 07 D registration was heading in the direction of Main Street Baldoyle.

The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene. This car travelled along Strand Road, Baldoyle onto Main Street turned left onto Moyne Road and again turned left into the Castlemoyne Estate.

The car was abandoned in the Castlemoyne Estate. The car’s two front tyres had blown out and the car was being driven on rims at the time it was abandoned.
