The Gaiety theatre and box office are operating as normal today after a fire in an isolated part of a cold room at the theatre on Monday evening.

The fire started at about 5.30pm and was quickly brought under control by Dublin Fire Brigade who sent three engines and a turntable ladder to the scene.

The building was evacuated.

A spokesman for the theatre said the fire was a minor one, caused by an electrical fault in a pump servicing the cold room.
