Paul Drury, the former editor of the Evening Herald, has died at the age of 57 after a short illness.
Mr Drury was editor of the Evening Herald from 1994 until 1999. He later moved to become the launch editor of the Irish Daily Mail in 2006.
Mr Drury was managing editor of Associated Newspapers Ireland from 2008 until 2011 and then worked as a freelance columnist and commentator.
In a journalistic career spanning more than 30 years, he also served as editor of the Irish Mail on Sunday, Ireland on Sunday, the Irish Daily Star and the Irish language newspaper Amárach, as well as holding a number of senior editorial positions with the Irish Independent. He was also a member of the Press Council of Ireland.
He is survived by his wife Áine, a former RTÉ journalist, and three children.
