Fire breaks out in former Revenue offices on Cork quays

Six units of the Cork City Fire Brigade have been tackling a blaze at the former offices of the Revenue Commissioners on Sullivan’s Quay in the city.

The emergency services were contacted shortly after noon on Thursday when a member of the public spotted that the multi-storey office block was on fire.

Gardaí have advised motorists to avoid the area and traffic diversions are in place.

The cause of the fire at the office is unknown at this time. It is understood that the building was unoccupied when the fire broke out. It most recently housed an art collective called Sample Studios. It also formerly operated as a Fás office.
