Gardaí were continuing to interview people in Dundalk last evening over the death of a 48-year-old woman in the town yesterday. The State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, carried out a post-mortem on the woman's remains yesterday, but the results have yet to be published.
The woman was at her home in the Dundalk area at around noon when an ambulance was called to the house. It is understood she had been feeling ill and a family member decided to call the emergency services.
She was taken to Louth County Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1.10 p.m. It's understood there were a number of marks on her body.
A number of people from the Dundalk area were yesterday helping gardaí with their investigations.
It is understood that until the results of the post-mortem become known, the woman's death will be treated as suspicious.
