An unlikely chat between Oscar Wilde and Estonia's famous writer Eduard Wilde is the subject of a new street sculpture which has been unveiled in Galway.
The artwork - or artistic licence - marks Estonia's accession to the EU next Saturday, and is a replica of a sculpture in the city of Tartu. A miniature bronze version was presented to the President, Mrs McAleese, when she visited the Baltic state three years ago.
The unveiling was performed by the Mayor of Galway, Cllr Terry O'Flaherty, and the Estonian ambassador to Ireland, Simmu Tjik, in William Street on Saturday. The mayor said that she hoped it would mark a long and happy relationship between the two countries, and especially between the cities of Galway and Tartu.
