If Met Éireann’s forecast is to be believed, the next three days will be a typical Irish summer mix of wind, rain, sunshine and cooler temperatures.
Friday has it all, but with a little less of the finer stuff. A mostly dry morning, but blanketed with dull cloud, the day is likely to see scattered rain showers, notably in the east of the country and probably worsening as the day progresses.
“It will be a cool and fresh day with just occasional sunny intervals,” Met Éireann’s outlook forecast predicts gloomily, in a manner unbecoming of late June. Temperatures are likely to top out at just 17 degrees.

As night settles in, showers will continue, again mainly in the east but look like giving way to some dry spells.
On Saturday, things do not look like getting much better. Cloud and sunny spells vie for dominance, although showery conditions are set to give way to a mostly dry and sunny evening. Temperatures will hover between 14 and 18 degrees.
Sunday morning looks similar again: dry but with cloud cover increasing during the morning and sunshine battling to poke through.
Met Éireann promises a return of yet more scattered showers and possibly rain spells developing in the south of the country. Temperatures look like pushing toward summertime though, hitting between 16 and 20 degrees, even stretching to 21 in the south.
On Sunday night, dry and clear skies mean that mist and hill fog will set the tone going into next week.
