Memories of those hazy sun-drenched summer days are fast fading as Met Éireann has issued a warning for localised flooding, thunder and up to 30mm of rain today.
The wet weather looks set to continue with a forecast for a further 30mm to 40mm possible overnight and on Thursday. The Met Éireann yellow rainfall alert for Munster, Connacht and west Ulster remains until tomorrow.

While the persistent heavy rain will clear eastwards tomorrow evening, the unsettled wet weather looks like continuing into the weekend and early next week.

Last week also saw people swapping sandals for umbrellas as exceptionally heavy rain led to flooding at Croke park and Letterkenny Hospital, the closure of Clery’s and a lightning strike disrupting Luas green line services.
