A woman in her 40s has been released from custody after being held overnight following a man’s death in north Dublin at the weekend.

The woman was arrested on Sunday after a 36-year-old man, named locally as Stefan Neanu, sustained fatal injuries at a house on Phibsboro Road, Phibsboro.

Emergency services were called to the house at around 10.30pm on Saturday.

Mr Neanu, who is originally from Romania, was treated at the scene before being taken to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Sunday morning.

The house was sealed off for a technical examination by Garda forensics officers.

The woman was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Mountjoy Garda station.

Gardaí confirmed this morning that the woman has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
